50 Shades Of Grey Illustration for Businessweek
I’m sure all the Ladies have already read or heard of the Fifty Shades Trilogy by E L James somewhere. In May, Businessweek Magazine contacted me to illustrate for an article which was about the success of the erotic novel and how this book has stimulated the sales of entry level S+M toys, which are up from last year something like 20-30% in some places. At the time when I received the project, I knew little about the novel and less about S+M toys. I did my research of course and boy, was I in for a treat…
So, here were my initial sketches:
The Art Director went with the 2nd concept from the left. Below is the process work:
Hope you enjoyed this post. For those who are curious, I did end up reading the novel after this project ;)
See you at my next post or on Facebook or Twitter.
With love,
Christina

Beautiful work! What did you think of the novel? Is it worth the read? :P
It was an enjoyable read. Wasn’t a huge fan of the writing but the story was very playful and interesting. Give it a shot ;)
